Sustainable Wood Sources
Unlike flooring choices ranging from ceramic tile to carpet, wood is a renewable resource. A recent study conducted by The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) and the Decorative Hardwoods Association (DHA) shows that both solid-wood and engineered-wood floors offer the lowest Global Warming Potential (GWP) scores of any flooring choices. This carefully derived environmental criteria is becoming an accepted standard in the flooring industry.
Southern Traditions builds upon this advantage by making sure all of our hardwood comes from certified green, self-renewing sources. Our wood is farmed, responsibly harvested and replanted according to long-term sustainability plans—ensuring there is no net wood - land loss or negative impact on the environment created by Southern Traditions floors.
In addition, Southern Traditions uses exclusively natural wood as raw material for all our engineered hardwood flooring. This helps us not only comply with existing standards, but to raise renewable source reliance every time we create a beautifully engineered floor.

Responsible Manufacturing
With renewable wood sourced for raw material, we painstakingly oversee a CARB II/EPA-compliant and Floorscore Certified manufacturing process, adhering strictly to stringent environmental protections as well as the federal Lacey Act. Nothing is wasted in our efforts:
• Tree bark is processed into mulch and soil conditioners
• Sawdust fuels the boilers that operate dry kilns, and is used in animal bedding
• Trimmings are chipped and processed into paper and other products
• Small wood pieces are recovered for use as products such as finger-jointed wood components
And since minimal off-gassing is the key determinant of positive indoor air quality, we work only with ultra-low formaldehyde, compliance-certified adhesives.
